Dee Roberts

Dee Roberts was born in Pennsylvania. Early interest in art was nurtured and rewarded, culminating in a scholarship to the Philadelphia College of Art. After she married and moved to Florida she continued to study, taking courses with Memphis Wood, Mun Quan, and Louise Freshman Brown and workshops with many nationally known artists.

Her work is diverse, ranging from drawings of wild life, photography,watercolor and pastels to abstract paintings. She has exhibited widely and has received top awards around Florida and Georgia . Her regional awards were garnered in the Sewannee Valley Regional, Winter Park Art Festival and Valdosta Spring Arts Shows. In Jacksonville, she had a two person show at the Cummer and has art in the permanent collections of the University of North Florida and St Johns Country Day School, and AT & T. Her work has been included in many juried shows at J.U., FCCJ, UNF, the Karpeles Museum, the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens and the Jacksonville Art Museum . She has been awarded many prizes in shows at the St. Augustine Art Association including the Brian Wolfe Award for best painting in their Annual Honors Show, the Ann James Prize for Best Pastel Portrait at the Honors Show and in 2009 the Best in Show for the Honors Show. Dee’s art was selected to be included at Quigley House and Hubbard House. She enjoys participating in the Art Guild of Orange Park, the Society of Mixed Media Artists and the Jacksonville Watercolor Society. She was named Jacksonville Watercolor Artist of the Year in 2010. Dee was juried into The National Watercolor Society 2014 International Water Color Show. Dee has had many solo shows including St Johns Country Day School and the Thrasher Horne Center for the Performing Arts and is represented by Great Hang Ups Gallery in Fleming Island.
